Ridgedale Commons transforms an underutilized mall parking lot into a vibrant civic landscape at the heart of Minnetonka’s evolving urban fabric. Acquired by the City from Ridgedale Mall, the new public park serves as a catalyst for the public realm, advancing sustainable urbanism while fostering community connection. Led by the landscape architecture team, the design organizes the park into a series of interconnected outdoor rooms that support recreation, community gathering, and environmental education. As a model for the adaptive reuse of aging suburban retail sites, Ridgedale Commons demonstrates how landscape architecture can lead visionary placemaking and urban regeneration.
