About ASLA
Minnesota
ASLA-MN is the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) which represents nearly 300 professionals in the landscape architecture profession through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship. ASLA, the national organization, has more than 18,000 members and 48 chapters, representing all 50 states, U.S. territories, and 42 countries around the world.
As a licensed profession in the state of Minnesota, landscape architecture encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and stewardship of the natural and built environments. Landscape Architectural projects range from academic campuses, conservation and natural areas, historic landscapes, parks and recreation, transportation corridors, urban design, water resources, and commercial and residential properties.
ASLA-MN offers a variety of service projects, social events, networking and continuing education opportunities. An elected Executive Committee typically meets monthly on the first Thursday from 4:30-6pm, to discuss, organize, and facilitate chapter activities. All ASLA-MN members are invited to attend these meetings. Please contact the president in advance.
The Minnesota chapter of Womxn in Landscape Architecture (WxLA) is dedicated to increasing transparency, leadership
and representation for womxn (women, women-identifying, and non-binary people) in the profession by providing mentorship and scholarship opportunities, encouraging supportive discussion and exchange of ideas, and establishing a virtual home for members.

The Society
Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is the professional association for landscape architects in the United States, representing nearly 15,000 members. The Society’s mission is to advance landscape architecture through advocacy, communication, education, and fellowship.
Importantly, sustainability has been part of ASLA’ s mission since its founding and is an overarching value that informs all of the Society’s programs and operations. ASLA has been a leader in demonstrating the benefits of green infrastructure and resilient development practices through the creation of its own green roof, co-development of the SITES® Rating System, and the creation of publicly-accessible sustainable design resources.
ASLA has 49 chapters, representing all 50 states, and U.S. territories, plus 81 student chapters and seven student affiliate chapters. ASLA members live in 57 countries around the world.
