The Ramsey County Environmental Center transforms a former brownfield into a vibrant public amenity. Through early goal setting, site selection, and integrated design leadership, the landscape architecture team guided carbon reducing strategies, restored five acres of native habitat, improved soil health, reduced stormwater runoff, protected mature trees, and created a dynamic educational landscape. By pairing ecological restoration with community centered design, the project serves as a replicable model for future work, showing how public facilities can lead by example in waste reduction, recycling, and reuse while restoring landscapes, improving water quality, providing centers for social gathering, and strengthening environmental equity.
