Red Sands Sports Park

The Sand Sports Park transforms 7,700 acres of desert south of Riyadh into a world-class cycling and outdoor sports destination. The design centers on the Najdi flower, a traditional six-petaled geometric figure scaled to metropolitan dimensions as a 9-mile professional cycling loop visible from every plane landing in Riyadh. All 31 miles of paths are lit for nighttime riding, with midnight races running through summer. Over half the site is dedicated to ecological restoration using experimental dune reconstruction grounded in historic wind patterns. The park holds equestrian trails, hiking paths, and cross-country biking across the restored landscape.
