Youth employment and career growth, healthy communities and education are the priorities of the JD Rivers’ Children’s Garden. Growing on the success of the existing youth-run garden, the Long-Range Plan proposes an expanded garden campus in support of these goals and proposes a framework for successful agricultural and cultural systems. The expanded campus features an Educational Center, Greenhouse, Hoophouse, water-harvesting system and small farm animal enclosure, where teen workers learn job skills that provide healthy food for their communities. The plan creates capacity for agricultural growth, and investment in Minneapolis’ youth as they grow their career skills and community’s health.
