Award Year / 2026

Entry Category / Residential Design

Location / Minneapolis, MN

This Minneapolis hillside oasis was transformed from a deteriorating home into a “living installation”—a modern, multi-generational home inspired by and in dialogue with the neighboring Walker Art Center. By navigating steep topography with sculptural landforms and a high-texture native palette, the design fosters intimate family connection while creating new opportunities for urban density. The intent is a poetic, sustainable sanctuary that celebrates seasonal rhythm, bridging the gap between residential privacy and civic art through technical detailing and artistic restraint.
